Cheapest option – Public Transport. There are several public buses which leave Melbourne Airport and connect with various train stations allowing a connection to the city. By far the most frequent of these is the 901, which runs every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends. This connects to numerous train stations, of which Broadmeadows is the first you’ll reach. In addition, the 478, 479 and 482 go to Airport West, note these are substantially less frequent, however.

Public transport bus information: https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/getting-around/airport-buses/

The public bus services are located near to the front of terminal one (the Qantas / Jetstar terminal) at Melbourne airport.

Most frequent serviced option – Skybus. The SkyBus service runs at 15 minute intervals most of the day, but is available 24 hours. An open return costs $28 and is valid for three months. The journey rarely takes more than 30 minutes even in peak periods.

There are three Skybus access points at the airport, one in front of Terminal 1 (Qantas) , another in front of Terminal 3 (Virgin Australia) and another one just for pick up infront of terminal 4 (Tiger / Jetstar lowcost terminal).

If you are arriving from any other terminal, you will need to go to either of these locations. The sky bus areas are clearly noticeable in the red signage and there’s a ticketing booth in each. If there’s a crowd at one of the pick up points, you can always walk to the other one.

Also private shuttle bus providers also offer services catering to Victorian country and semi rural areas

The most convenient and economical option: The Travelling by own car. Melbourne airport has various options for drivers dropping off or picking up passengers.

Short term parking. The best option for fare-welling your loved ones of friends, is to pre-purchase two hour short term parking via the Melbourne airport website. Whilst it’s still not the cheapest, the 15 dollars for two hours provides better value for money and the convenience of either personally fare-welling or greeting your fellow travellers.

There is also official Long term parking provided by Melbourne Airport available. And nearby the airport, there are also third-party secure parking providers – but be aware of the pricing, services provided and past client reviews of each of the parking providers before proceeding.

All information about Melbourne airports’ carparks and facilities can be found here: http://melbourneairport.com.au/to-from-the-airport/airport-parking/car-parks.html

Ring and ride. For a quick pick up or drop off: there is a dedicated ‘ring and ride’ area nearby to the airport. They do charge a small fee and is only for waits up to one hour (afterwards short term parking fees apply) – so best to plan you timing accordingly.

Once your loved one arrives, they simply call you from in front of the main terminal at the ‘public pick up bays’ and they will state the signed and numbered location bay where they are standing at. You then simply drive and follow up signage to the location bay they are waiting at.
